The earliest signs of facial aging often appear around the eyes. Unfortunately, our eye area sends the strongest messages about how we feel inside. During younger years, our expression may match how we feel. But aging or damaged skin can begin to be at odds with our true self.

This disconnect can negatively impact your quality of life over time. However, Dr. Linville offers patients a way to rejuvenate their appearance through eyelid surgery. Also called blepharoplasty, this procedure can address a wide range of concerns about the skin and tissue around the eyes.

What Is Eyelid Surgery?

Eyelid surgery works to correct or enhance the area around the eyes, usually signs of aging. These signs occur as a result of:

  • Sun damage
  • Thinning of the skin and fat
  • Sagging of the cheek

Eyelid surgery can address any and all of these concerns. When performed by an experienced surgeon, you will notice subtle but powerful results.

Is Eyelid Surgery Right for Me?

If you are concerned with how your eyelids affect your appearance, this procedure can help. Using years of training and practice, Dr. Linville delivers results tailored to each patient.  There is no one-size-fits-all treatment. Instead, we tailor your procedure to match your unique goals and needs.

Below are some signs eyelid surgery is right for you:

  • You want to freshen your eye area
  • Signs of aging leave you looking tired
  • Eyelids droop and interfere with your vision
  • You want to add a lively posture to your appearance
  • Dark circles or drooping eyelids make you look fatigued

If you want to address any of these concerns, eyelid surgery is for you. Since it is a surgical procedure, you will also need to be in good health. This includes not smoking before or after the procedure. Your body will need that time to rest and achieve optimal results.

Improving Your Lower Eyelids and Cheeks

Newer techniques rely on re-draping of the herniated fat pads below the eye, not resection. This will smooth the contour below the eye, known as the tear trough. The result is a restoration of your youthful appearance.

Some injectable fillers and fat grafting can also be used alone or in combination with lid surgery to create a perfect under-eye contour. A mid-facelift technique may also be used to lift up the cheek, allowing enhanced recovery and optimal results.

Non-Surgical Options for Blepharoplasty

For many patients, the commitment to surgery may not be a current option. Fortunately, there are a variety of non-surgical ways to address eyelid concerns.

Dr. Linville can correct your signs of aging without any incision. Though non-surgical treatments are not permanent, they provide stunning results with a more convenient process. By expertly placing measured amounts of filler in target areas, Dr. Linville can deliver a painless rejuvenation.

Depending on your unique goals, Dr. Linville will determine the best filler for you. These typically can include:

  • Juvederm
  • Restylane
  • Voluma
  • Lyft
  • Sculptra
  • Fat grafting

The goals of fillers are to create a smooth transition from the lower lid fat pads onto the upper cheek. When done by an expert, there should be no shadow under the eye. Thickening the skin and tissue above the bone will also help eliminate shadows below the eyes that make you look tired. Eyelid rejuvenation is complex. Just like everything else, it requires a tailored, unique approach for every individual.

Double Eyelid Surgery

Also known as Asian eyelid surgery, this procedure aims to create a more dynamic eyelid. This upper eyelid surgery is often done for people of Asian ethnicity who desire a more active look. Our goal is to avoid “Westernizing” the eyelid. Instead, we use your unique eyelid structure and enhance it with a crease.

Double Eyelid Surgery can usually be done in the office, with a quicker recovery and minimal downtime. Dr. Linville spent extra time during his training learning the nuances of eyelid surgery for various ethnicities. He became an expert in providing patients with subtle yet defining results.

Benefits of a Double Eyelid Surgery

  • Improved vision
  • Refreshed look
  • Permanent results
  • More youthful appearance
  • Gained confidence
  • Safe and effective procedure

During the initial appointment, Dr. Linville will take the time to create an open discussion with the patient to identify the areas that concern them. We work so that your ideal goal is established through this collaborative effort. Then Dr. Linville evaluates the upper and lower eyelid to further assess the areas of concern and explain what areas he will correct during the procedure. He will also discuss all preoperative instructions, procedural details, any necessary medications, and recovery timeline.
